# MethodSpring data and privacy

Guest learning history and drafts are stored in your browser. They are not uploaded automatically. A free account synchronizes learning events, responses, completion, assessment history, drafts, and review information to Gradual Genius. Importing a guest or legacy backup is an explicit action.

Email addresses support sign-in recovery and verification. Public MethodSpring accounts receive access to this product; private pilot products require separate admission.

When enabled, AI receives your question or response plus a small relevant curriculum context. It does not receive the entire content bank or unrelated learner history. Do not enter participant names, sensitive research data, or private third-party material. OpenAI API credentials stay on the server. AI requests use store=false, but provider-side processing and retention are governed by the organization's OpenAI agreement and settings; this is not a claim of zero retention.

AI usage records include the account, model, token usage, estimated cost, status, and latency. A content issue report contains your message, optional content ID, and your account if signed in. Do not include sensitive information in a report.

Daily aggregate counters measure lesson, practice, and lab openings, return visits after a day, and save failures/recovery. These counters contain no account identifier, responses, content IDs, or research text. Guest learning records remain in your browser unless you explicitly import them into an account.

Use Settings to export or delete MethodSpring learning events and imported backups. Separate historical REMS data, your account, verification status, and security/AI usage records are retained under the platform's applicable retention policies. Deleting browser data removes guest records unless you exported a backup. Classroom demonstration data is synthetic and does not enter your learner profile.

Signing out clears the current account's browser cache. A failed final synchronization produces a downloadable recovery backup before sign-out. Guest records use a separate browser storage key. Deletion rotates a server generation identifier so a previously offline device cannot silently restore deleted progress.

For account deletion, retention questions, or correction of personal information, contact your Gradual Genius administrator. Institutional classroom use should establish its own consent, collection, and retention practices before students share exports.
